Football News

Mike Yurcich on the importance of ball security: “That’s something that we’re not used to. The importance of ball security must be taught, must be emphasized.” [NewsOK]

In fact, this is only the third time OSU has lost twice in the first month of the season in 12 seasons under Mike Gundy. The Cowboys began 2-2 in 2007 with losses at Georgia and Troy, and in 2012, they fell at Arizona and at home versus Texas. [Tulsa World]

Rudolph on Texas: “They run well in space, and they’re very physical. So I think it will be a great test for our guys. I think we’re up to the challenge, and I can’t wait to get out there and lead this offense up and down the field.” [NewsOK]

Spencer on the 18-Wheeler: “He’s a much more powerful runner than J.W. was. That’s the difference. J.W. could make you miss and shake you. He had the speed to get around the edge. When they decide to run power and come right at you, they’re gonna do it. They couldn’t care less what front you’re in. They’re gonna come right at you and try to run you over.” [O’Colly]

Boone-Gundy Rift?

Apparently Boone and Gundy are not talking again. [PFB]

I wrote some thoughts on Twitter yesterday.

Great idea here.

Big 12 Expansion

Berry Tramel: When Boren issued a statement Tuesday saying, “Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion,” he’s technically telling the truth. The Sooners have taken a position on expansion candidates. And no available school measures up to the schools that left the Big 12 behind. [NewsOK]

That seems particularly odd considering it was Boren’s comments last year in support of Big 12 expansion that got the conference into this mess. He even set Twitter on fire by calling the conference “psychologically disadvantaged” without expansion. I don’t know about you, but there’s not a lot of room for misunderstanding what side of things he was on there. [LGG]

Around the Country

Thermonuclear take here out of Lincoln on kneeling players: One of the fans that thinks the group should be kicked off the team is Hal Daub, a member of the University of Nebraska Board of Regents member. [CBS]

Ryder Cup

These are tremendous.
