TRANSFER PORTAL TRACKER

The Cowboys have now gone more than two weeks without a basketball coach, and another player is reportedly set to enter the portal.

Eric Dailey Jr. is set to enter the portal, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw. A freshman at Oklahoma State this past season, Dailey averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game. He was the Cowboys’ third-leading scorer behind Javon Small and Bryce Thompson, and Dailey shot 50% from the field.

OSU fired coach Mike Boynton on March 14. Boynton obviously played a big role in getting Dailey, a four-star prospect with USA Basketball experience, to Stillwater. Listed at 6-foot-8, 230 pounds, Dailey was a consensus four-start recruit out of IMG Academy in Florida, where he took a postgrad year after initially being a part of the 2022 recruiting class. 247Spors listed Dailey as the No. 38 player in his class.

Dailey scored in double figures 15 times this past season, putting up a career-high 20 in a game against Oklahoma. He had a pair of double-doubles as a freshman: putting up 13 points and 11 rebounds against Creighton and 12 points and 11 rebounds against Oral Roberts. After starting during the early portion of the Cowboys’ season, Dailey was primarily used as a sixth man scoring threat off Boynton’s bench.

Dailey would join fellow freshman Brandon Garrison in the portal. Garrison entered the portal in the days following Boynton’s dismissal. Small was reportedly set to enter the portal before posting on social media that he was “not officially in the transfer portal.”

Western Kentucky’s Steve Lutz is the favorite to take over at OSU, but nothing has been made official. With the pair of players in the portal, whomever the new coach is has six scholarships available to use, as of writing.
