ESPNU to Replay Four Eddie Sutton Games This Week to Commemorate Him
Three of the four games are from his time at OSU.
In commemoration of the late Eddie Sutton, ESPN this week announced it will air four of the most memorable games from his coaching career — three of which took place at Oklahoma State.
The games will be aired on ESPNU starting at 9 a.m. Friday and will run all the way into the evening, starting with Texas Tech-OSU from 1998 and culminating with OSU’s semifinal showing in the Big 12 tourney in 2005. Via ESPN:
10 a.m.: 1998 Classic’s College Basketball – Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State
Noon: 2006 Classic’s College Basketball – Oklahoma State vs. Kansas
2 p.m.: 1986 Classic’s College Basketball – Kentucky vs. LSU
4 p.m.: 2005 Big 12 Basketball Tournament, Semifinal – Oklahoma State
Spoiler alert here: OSU won them all. Nonetheless, this is a pretty tremendous way to honor his legacy for those who can tune in.
Sutton passed away this past Saturday at 84 years old. He won 806 games as a college head coach and twice took OSU to a Final Four. He will be posthumously inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame next spring.
