Published

on

Many schools in Oklahoma and Louisiana had their first games as schools in Texas started on their second of the season. The group of OSU commits at skill positions turned in pretty good numbers this week overall.

Nick Starkel, Quarterback, Liberty Christian (TX)

Nick played pretty well in his first win of the season over Springtown. Starkel completed touchdown throws 3 times and with 216 yards total. The Warriors defense held Springtown while its offense continues to improve, expect to see many more good games from Nick Starkel.

Final Score: Liberty Christian 28 Springtown 10

Record: 1-1

AJ Green, Cornerback, and LaDarren Brown, Running back, Desoto (TX)

Desoto had its second week in a row of really good competition as they IMG Academy led by Shea Patterson (5-star QB, Ole Miss Commit). This game remained competitive through out with Brown rushing for 109 yards on only 11 carries. 1 of Brown’s 2 touchdowns was a 41 yarder that put Desoto up early in the first half. Green also had a good outing and proved to be a lockdown cover all night and ended with 2 pass deflections. He also grabbed a blocked extra point and returned it to the house for 2.

Final Score: Desoto 29 IMG Academy 47

Record: 0-2

Devin Harper, Linebacker / Running back, Karns (TN)

Harper was suspended this week after a scuffle in last week’s win.

Final Score: Karns 27 South-Doyle 41

Record 1-2

Madre Harper, Cornerback, Arlington Lamar (TX)

The monster game this week was presented by Madre Harper. Harper was wreaking havoc all over the field and putting his long wiry frame to use. Harper recorded 8 tackles, an interception, a blocked field goal and a blocked punt. He also made some big hits in special teams that left opposing teams with bad field position.

Final Score: Lamar 38 Keller Central 14

Record: 2-0

Justice Hill, Running back, Booker T. Washington (OK)

Justice was awarded the offensive player of the game after their win over Midwest City. He rushed 22 times for 110 yards. Hill isn’t just a runner as he caught 2 receptions for 15 yards and was able to hold his own in pass protection.

Final: Washington 28 Midwest City 16

Record 1-0

Dillon Stoner, Receiver/ Safety, Jenks (OK)

The multipurpose player was out showing all his skills again on Friday night. I say multipurpose because he plays about 5 different positions at any given time. Stoner and Jenks’ offense looked dominant and was able to put up big numbers on the scoreboard. Jenks got behind early and stalled offensively in their first drive, but things turned around after a 53 yard punt from Stoner and a defensive in part thanks to a pass deflection from Stoner. On their next possession Dillon got the year’s first touchdown via a 5 yard reverse. Stoner later had a 30 yard touchdown catch that put the game out of reach at 44-10.

Final: Jenks 58 Bixby 24

Record: 1-0

Rodarius Williams, Cornerback, Calvary Baptist Academy (LA)

Calvary has a loaded secondary with 3 of the starting 4 already committed to a Power 5 school. Rodarius is one of those stars and showed why in his first game of the season. Williams had 3 tackles and 2 pass deflections in the loss to Teurling’s Catholic. This is a player that has a bright future and at any time could have a huge game, look for big numbers from him in the future.

Final: Calvary 28 Teurling’s Catholic 45
