Favorite TDs of 2017: Tyron vs. OU and the Entire Pittsburgh Game

I’m not sure when or why this struck me, but the other day I was going through some highlights and thought it would be fun to talk about our favorite touchdowns from the 2017 CFB season. Oklahoma State scored 74 of them so there were plenty to choose from (only UCF, OU, Memphis, Ohio State and Florida Atlantic scored more).

Here are some of our faves with GIFs included. Hope you guys enjoy reliving them as much as we did writing about them.

Kyle Boone

My favorite touchdown of the season had to be Tyron Johnson’s outside-in juke and score vs. Oklahoma. He threw Parnell Motley into the spin cycle so hard he was subsequently benched after No. 13 snagged it across the middle of the end zone. He showed he had another gear in that game and that specific score will forever be etched into my mind when I recall that historic Bedlam tilt.

Phillip Slavin

My favorite touchdown of the year was the Rudolph to Ateman pass against Pitt. Watching Rudolph scramble like he was Ben Rothlisberger in the Steelers’ stadium was impressive enough, but the perfect pass to Ateman followed by the sideline tip-toe to stay inbounds and run in for the score was so impressive and athletic. I think I’ve watched the replay at least 50 times since it happened and am still stunned by it.

Kyle Porter

Mine is also the Tyron TD against OU. It’s the one I’ve watched more often than any of the other 73 TDs from the season. I believe Boone picked up Motley’s jock off the field and returned it to the OU locker room after the game. Between that move, that throw, the leaping/diving catch and the magnitude of the moment, it was the play of the year to that point. Whoo boy, Tyron was lit that night. I’d love to go back and watch that second half play out differently than it did.

Luke Garza

This was my favorite TD. Not only because I was on the field for it, but also because, for so long, it seemed like the game was over. Stoner breaks the pylon, and all of a sudden, everyone inside BPS believes the Cowboys are going to complete the comeback. The fireworks at the end were pretty cool, too.

Justin Southwell

Justice Hill’s multiple-juke move TD run at Pitt. The first cut was so dirty I had to get a tetanus shot.

Seth Duckworth

I’m at Warrant Officer School in Alabama. Caveat to this is Warrant Officer training sucks. Widely known as one of the toughest training schools in the Army outside of Special Forces type stuff. Ninety-nine percent of the time you’re kept detached from society. No cell phones, TV, computer or internet. So I pretty much missed the first half of the entire college football season as I shipped to the school a few days before the South Alabama game.

One day we go to eat in the DFAC and I look up and the Pitt game is on TV. OSU is completely destroying them at this point and it showed clips of a few Rudolph TD passes. So any one of them were my favorite because between Tulsa and Baylor that five minutes in the DFAC was all the college football I got to watch.
