Five Quotes from the Oklahoma State-West Virginia Game: Gundy talks RBs, Ramon Talks Defense

Dana Holgorsen and Mike Gundy spoke with the media after the OSU-WVU game on Saturday, which means there were some fun things said. Let’s start with the skullet and move on to the mullet.

Holgorsen on OSU

“They beat us. They whipped us. It was pretty clear and evident to me that they were more physical than us, and that’s kind of the bottom line in this game. I thought they dominated up front. When that happens, it’s going to be tough. They have good players. They have a good program.”

Holgorsen on WVU

“It’s about to get really uncomfortable around here.”

Gundy on his RBs

“The good thing about J.D. is he’s very, very mature. His mental approach and mental makeup is more like a junior. I don’t think the stage gets too big for him. He’s highly intelligent. Five brings a different world to the table, his ability. The two of them work really well together. Twenty-seven had a lot of work — 36 carries for a true freshman is a lot of work. Good news is five cleared up, and he’s up and running and OK. That will help to get him back.”

Gundy on the Special Teams Woes

“I’m involved in special teams, and I’ve got to do a better job of helping us come up with a plan and make sure it’s repped enough that we can be sound in special teams. If you make mistakes and continue to shoot yourself in the foot, eventually it’s going to catch you. I’m not comfortable with our special teams right now.”

That makes, well … all of us.

Ramon Richards on the defense

“Without that D-line, we can’t make the plays we make. Our linebackers are making plays. The defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer calls the best plays to put us in position to make plays. I knew (my INT) was coming.”

He always does … doesn’t he?
