Five-star Guard Collin Sexton Names OSU in Top 10

Oklahoma State is in the top 10 schools for five-star shooting guard Collin Sexton, a 6-2 prospect from Mableton, GA who was recently named the MVP of the FIBA Americas tournament where he led USA basketball to a gold medal.

Out of 24 schools, he has now cut his list to 10. Those schools include OSU, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Kansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Villanova, he told ESPN.

“It was very difficult to cut this list down but I chose the programs that I felt will best fit my up-tempo style of play,” Sexton said. “I never want to walk the ball up the floor on offense, and on defense, I like to extend my pressure.”

Sexton visited Oklahoma State earlier this spring, just before the commitment of OSU’s only 2017 commit Zach Dawson, a four-star point guard from Florida.

“Arizona, Kansas, Texas, Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma State for sure are all working hardest right now,” Sexton told Adam Zagoria in June. “They’re telling me that I can come in and be an impact at a program right away. They’re saying that I can learn and play. Nothing is guaranteed, you have to come in and work hard.”

Here’s a scouting report on Sexton from ESPN basketball recruiting analyst Paul Biancardi:

Sexton is a dynamic scoring guard with deep range to make 3-point shots both off the dribble and off the catch. He is quick to pull up from the mid-range and loves to finish as well as creating fouls while converting at a high percentage.

Sexton is expected to once again trim his list again sometime in August to a top five, with a commitment potentially coming before his senior season.

In the video below (No. 2), he showcases his ability to not only hit from deep but also an uncanny knack of getting to the rim and distributing to find the open man.
