FloWrestling Releases Updated High School Rankings
Here’s where some future Cowboys stand along with a few other prospects.
Flowrestling released an updated list of high school wrestling rankings, and here is where the future of Oklahoma State wrestling currently stands on the national high school wrestling landscape.
The Commits
The Cowboys have four commitments for the 2021 class, and they’re all ranked.
Name | Weight | Rank |
Victor Voinovich | 152 | 2 |
Teague Travis | 152 | 20 |
Travis Mastrogiovanni | 160 | 2 |
Kyle Haas | 220 | 2 |
One somewhat interesting note here is the size jump from Teague Travis, who was wrestling at 138 last November when he first committed.
All three other Oklahoma State commits are at No. 2, and each will be competing at Flo’s “Who’s #1?” next month to try for the No. 1 spot.
Mastrogiovanni is the only one of the group in the pound-for-pound rankings. He comes in there at No. 13.
Others to keep an eye on
There are quite a few others in these rankings worth following if we ever get back to regular competition in wrestling.
Name | Weight | Rank |
Cael Hughes | 113 | 17 |
Kaden Smith | 120 | 20 |
Troy Spratley | 126 | 4 |
Jordan Williams | 138 | 4 |
Angelo Ferrari | 138 | 18 |
Bryce Dauphin | 145 | 20 |
Anthony Ferrari | 152 | 4 |
Harley Andrews | 285 | 10 |
There might be even more out there, but after a quick skim of the rankings, here are a few I would keep a good watch on.
What’s better than landing the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2020 class? Him having two standout brothers as well. Most notably in this mix of prospects are the two younger brothers of the No. 1 recruit in last year’s class AJ Ferrari. Angelo, the youngest brother of AJ, is now a high school freshman and is ranked 18th at 138 pounds. There are circles in the wrestling community that look at him as the top prospect of the three brothers, and Anthony, who is already a bit of a proven commodity at the high school level, comes in at No. 4 at 152 pounds.
In this incredible 2020 class that the Cowboys have already signed, they brought in two Tuttle standouts in Luke Surber and Dustin Plott. There are two other Tuttle wrestlers ranked here in Bryce Dauphin and Harley Andrews, who could follow a similar pattern.
Cael Hughes is a Stillwater High School product and one of the top sophomores in the country. The Cowboys will likely be doing all they can to keep him in town for college.
Jordan Williams, Troy Spratley, and Kaden Smith are all Oklahoma kids. Smith attends Bridge Creek High School, and Jordan Williams and Troy Spratley both go to Collinsville. Williams and Spratley are two of the top recruits in the entire 2022 class and both are likely to have suitors from all over the country, but naturally you’d expect the Cowboys to be in the mix and doing all they can to keep them in state.
