Former OSU Hooper Tavarius Shine Lands Pre-Draft Work Out with Thunder
A former Poke is returning to the state for a tryout with OKC.
Tavarius Shine, who played at Oklahoma State from 2014-18, has returned to the state he played college ball in for a pre-draft workout.
Shine scored a workout with the Oklahoma City Thunder before Thursday’s NBA Draft. His workout coming that late probably doesn’t provide the best outlook on Shine’s draft stock, but him getting a workout at all is impressive after his single season overseas.
Shine’s final season at OSU was his best. He averaged 9.7 points and 3.5 rebounds as a junior. He had a season of eligibility remaining after receiving a medical redshirt for the 2016-17 season after a back injury ended his season only six games in, but he had graduated and chose to pursue a professional career.
Shine played this past season at BC Lulea in Sweden. There, average 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 38 games played. He also shot 61 percent from the field.

If Shine were to land in OKC through the draft or afterward, he would be the second former Cowboy on the Thunder, joining Jawun Evans. That could seem far-fetched, but the G League is another possibility for Shine if his workout goes well.
