Four-star Jaylin Williams Officially Eliminates OSU from Consideration

OSU is moving on down the line for its next big man target in 2020.

For a moment during the last recruiting cycle, it appeared four-star center Jaylin Williams was nearing a commitment to Oklahoma State. On Thursday, that possibility officially was ruled out.

Williams trimmed his list to a final three schools on Thursday and nixed the Pokes — as expected — from consideration. After his AAU teammate Davonte Davis recently de-committed from OSU, this development appeared to be more of a formality. Most considered the duo was a package deal — now it appears they likely will be, but at Arkansas.

Here’s an update from Rivals that published on Thursday.

Auburn remains in the hunt and was the first to host him last weekend. On the visit, he was joined by his fellow travel teammate, Chris Moore, and Bruce Pearl would love nothing more than to keep the pair together during their college days.

However, my FutureCast selection remains on Arkansas, the in-state program that will host Williams this weekend for an official visit. The Hawgs already hold the commitment from another travel teammate of his, Davonte Davis, and could at least one or two others soon with KK Robinson and Moses Moody.

His visit tour will complete at Texas A&M on the weekend of Nov. 15. The Aggies have a major need in the frontcourt and prioritized Williams upon their hiring back in the spring. [Rivals]

As for what that means for OSU, it’s next man up on the big board. OSU is nearing a win on the recruiting trail in the recruitment of four-star power forward J.T. Thor, and I expect he may serve as the big man in this class. The staff is also in the mix for Montreal Pena, a 6-foot-9 forward from Arlington — the same city from where five-star pledge Cade Cunningham hails.
