Four-star OL Target Jaeden Roberts Sets Commitment Date
Can OSU land him the second time around?
Oklahoma State is hoping that its second chance to land four-star offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts will be the charm. Roberts, the Houston North Shore talent who recently decommitted from Auburn, announced on Monday that he will make his final commitment this upcoming Friday at 3 p.m.
Roberts picked Auburn over OSU (and several other schools) back in May, but the school’s decision to move on from head coach Gus Malzahn prompted him to reconsider his options.
OSU is bringing in two experienced offensive linemen in the 2021 class in junior college tackle Caleb Etienne and Miami (Ohio) transfer Danny Godlevske, as well as Jenks product Logan Nobles. But Roberts is the caliber of talent who you make room for regardless of situation.
Ironically, though, the decommitment from Auburn could wind up instead being a boon for its rival. It’s still unclear exactly where he’ll land — and OSU has been considered among the potential landing spots — but seven crystal ball predictions this week peg him picking the Crimson Tide on Friday.
OSU established a solid relationship with Roberts during his recruitment process, and they were a top-3 school in his eyes prior to his commitment to Auburn earlier this year, but so, too, was Alabama (and LSU). I suspect this time around it’ll be Bama, not OSU, but we’ll wait to see if the Pokes can make a last-minute impression.
