Four-star QB Target Grant Gunnell Decommits From Texas A&M

Four-star Class of 2019 QB target Grant Gunnell opened up his recruitment on Tuesday evening in the wake of months worth of speculation that he had been considering putting his name back on the market.

Gunnell had previously committed to the Aggies under the Kevin Sumlin regime — heck, he was offered by Florida State under the Jimbo Fisher regime! — but he’s wavered for awhile now and decided to re-examine his spot in the college recruiting landscape.

“After much consideration and discussion with my family, I feel that I may have committed to Texas A&M a little early,” Gunnell said on Twitter. “With the coaching transition, along with other factors I feel it is in my best interest to re-open my recruitment. While Texas A&M is still very much in play, I feel this is the best decision to make at the moment.”

Since Gunnell’s decision, Oklahoma State has already picked up steam in the eyes of at least one recruiting expert. A&M insider Brian Perroni cast a vote late Tuesday night in Gunnell’s crystal ball in favor of Oklahoma State suggesting the Pokes have a real shot as a rebound team.

Four-star Cowboy commit Grayson Boomer, a steady voice who has been in Gunnell’s ear and who has remained tight with him on and off the field, took to Twitter on Tuesday to make sure Cowboy fans know the deal. He also called on top targets Chase Lane, Dax Hill, Jalen Curry to all commit … at the same time.

Curry is considered an A&M lean while Lane is an A&M pledge; both are teammates of Gunell at St. Pius X in Houston and both have offers from the Cowboys, as does Gunnell and Hill, the younger brother of OSU tailback Justice Hill.
