Game Thread: OSU-Iowa State
The Cowboys look to rebound in Ames on a cold and windy day. If you’re superstitious, ignore the 11:00 a.m. kick, today’s date and that memorable game in Ames in 2011.
So grab your rabbit foot, knock on wood and join the discussion below. We’ll keep this updated on the quarter.
1st Quarter
After an ugly start, someone let the Cowboys out of the team bus about halfway through the first quarter. OSU got a score thanks to a Rudolph-to-Moss-ell connection. 14-7 bad guys.
2nd Quarter
The Cowboys Justice Hill won the second quarter 14-7 but the offense stalled on two-straight drives and a silly horse-collar by Ramon boosted the Cyclone’s final drive and Joel Lanning’s helmet scored the equalizer. It’s knotted at 21-all heading into the half.
3rd Quarter
The Cowboys came out flat again and Iowa State has something called a Zeb Noland had a better passer rating than Mason Rudolph for most of the period. But it took just one big play by Jalen McCleskey to put OSU in scoring position. The Pokes go up 31-28 heading into the final frame.
Final – OSU 49, ISU 42
Whew… That could not have been more nerve-racking. OSU is still alive in the Big 12 hunt technically. Thanks for joining us and stay tuned. We’ve got a ton of content headed your way.
