Happy 2015, everybody

We set new records in 2014!

I mentioned this briefly in the Bullets yesterday but hadn’t had much time to reflect on it with the Cactus Bowl bearing down on us and being on my 17th Christmas of the last two weeks and whatnot (copyright Pat Jones).

But yeah, I wanted to wish everyone a happy 2015 and tell you how thankful I am for 2014.

We set a new high-water mark in 2014 as 570,000 of you visited the site (up 40 percent) and looked at 4.8 million posts and pages (up 20 percent). You spent a total of 105,000 hours reading stuff I (and others wrote). That’s pretty crazy.

More importantly, the site was transformed form a fun little side project into a legitimate part-time job for me and, fiscally speaking, that’s the only thing that could keep pushing it forward into the future.

This past year was this site’s fourth full year in existence and I have to say the ride has surpassed my expectations. I started it not knowing where it would go and four years later here we are.

September was the biggest month for the second straight year (optimism!)[1. And Sports Illustrated scandals!] and mobile usage (52 percent) surpassed everything else (48 percent) for the first time.

I’ll have a few other year in review type posts next week after football is over but for now, thank you. Also, let me know if you want to take a look at an ad kit for 2015 by emailing me at pistolsfiringblog at gmail dot com.

I have a few slots filled but am looking to get others in place before conference basketball gets into full swing over the next month.
