Hoops Preview: TV Info, Team Stats and Projected Lineups before the Cowgirls Host Texas Tech
The Cowgirls have beaten Tech 12-straight times.
The Cowgirls are coming down the stretch of the regular season with a lot to play for. Despite a disappointing loss at Kansas State on Tuesday, OSU is still in contention for a top 3 seed in the Big 12 and, more importantly, is currently projected as an 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The Cowgirls would like to climb off that 8 spot and a good showing at home this weekend would go a long way. In fact, in their last five games, the Cowgirls have an opportunity for three Quad 1 wins as things sit now (Texas Tech and back-to-back road games at West Virginia and Iowa State) and one Quad 2 win (home against Utah). But first off, the Red Raiders.
OSU has won 12-straight against Tech, dating back to the 2019-20 season, but this year’s Red Raiders squad is better than any of those.
The No. 16 Red Raiders come to Stillwater at 20-3 and second in the league at 10-3. They represent a clash in styles with the dynamic offense of the Cowgirls. They score too, but they’re a stingy defense that ranks second in the Big 12 scoring allowed, third in shooting percentage allowed and second in 3-point percentage allowed.
The Cowgirls lead the league in scoring and make their hay beyond the arc. As we’ve seen lately — and it’s not quite as simple as this — but when they are able to knock down 3s (even in spurts) they normally come out on top. The question is whether they’ll be able to get their prolific perimeter shooters in-rhythm looks against the pesky Tech defenders.
Here’s what you need know before tipoff on Valentine’s Day.
