Jaleel Johnson stood out so much at Oklahoma State’s linemen camp a few weeks ago that he walked away with an offer. Now he is committed to being a Cowboy.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive lineman, announced his pledge to OSU on Sunday, just 12 days after he got his offer. Johnson plays his preps ball at Putnam City North in Oklahoma City.

Johnson is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, ranking 13th among Oklahomans in the 2022 class.

He picked OSU over offers from Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, Texas Tech, SMU, Memphis and others.

Johnson played as a traditional hand-in-the-ground defensive end and a stand-up edge rusher for the Panthers as a junior this past season. He recorded 49 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, four sacks, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.

He can do a lot with his long frame. He could become a similar player to OSU’s Tyler Lacy at the next level, who plays on the interior and exterior of the Cowboys’ defensive line.

Johnson is the 10th commitment in OSU’s 2022 class. He is the fifth defensive prospect and the second defensive lineman, joining Landon Dean (Frontenac, Kansas). Johnson is also the fifth Oklahoman to join the Cowboys class with CJ Brown (Beggs), Braylin Presley (Bixby), Mason Gilkey (Pawhuska) and Gabe Brown (Stillwater).
