FORT WORTH, Texas — To add injury to the insult that this OSU season has been, the Cowboys are down some more men for their trip to Fort Worth.

Oklahoma State will be without Talyn Shettron and Austin Kawecki for the Cowboys’ game against TCU, according to Dave Hunziker. Hunziker said both could be done for the rest of the year. It also sounds as if starting center Joe Michalski is batting through injury coming into the game. Without Kawecki behind him, redshirt freshman Jakobe Sanders would be Michalski’s backup should he be able to play against the Horned Frogs. Robert Allen reports Shettron broke his hand while Kawecki suffered a bicep injury.

A redshirt sophomore receiver, Shettron suffered an injury in practice on Wednesday, according to Hunziker. It’s been his best season as a Cowboy thus far, as Shettron has 12 catches for 245 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately this isn’t Shettron’s first potential season-ending injury. He played in seven games as a redshirt freshman last season, catching six passes for 78 yards, before an injury wiped out the rest of his year. Without Shettron in Fort Worth, expect some more Ayo Shotomide-King and perhaps some Cale Cabbiness to relieve starting outside receivers De’Zhaun Stribling and Rashod Owens.

Kawecki, a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman, had started to get some more work in the offense in recent weeks, playing 35 snaps against BYU, 43 snaps against Baylor and 26 snaps against Arizona State. He worked in at guard but could also play center.

The Cowboys will also be without Dalton Cooper, the Pokes’ starting left tackle, who has missed the past two games because of injury.

OSU and TCU kick at 6 p.m. Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The game is televised on FS1.
