Injury Report: Zane Flores Set to Start at Quarterback against Kansas
Flores is back.
Doug Meacham didn’t fully commit to a starting quarterback at his Monday news conference, but it seemed like the Cowboys were leaning going back to Zane Flores. And that’s what happened.
Brett McMurphy reported the news that Flores would return to the starting lineup, returning from injury, and Dave Hunziker confirmed that report on Oklahoma State’s pregame radio broadcast.
“I mean, you have options,” Meacham said Monday. “And Sam (Jackson) did a great job, and not to say he’s not in the equation, but Zane is more of a guy that can probably give you a little bit more of your playbook. So, looking forward to possibly having him back.”
It’ll be Flores’ first action since suffering an upper-body injury against Arizona on Oct. 4. He started the season as the Cowboys’ backup behind Hauss Hejny, who suffered a Jones fracture in OSU’s season-opening win against UT-Martin.
In five games this season, Flores has completed 55% of his 140 pass attempts, throwing for 696 yards, no touchdowns and three picks.
In the three full games Flores missed, the Cowboys completed 49% of pass attempts for 416 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
