Instacap: Cowboys Run Away from the Jayhawks in 58-17 Senior Day Win

The Cowboys rolled a hapless (and winless in-conference) Kansas team on a sleepy Senior Day behind a dominant, record-setting performance by OSU’s all-time leading passer Mason Rudolph.

For once, Oklahoma State’s offense was not sleepwalking early as it scored on seven of its first eight drives, with five touchdowns.

Rudolph lasted three full quarters in his Stillwater finale with his 10th 400-plus yard game, going 32 of 44 for 494 yards. He threw two TDs in the air and rushed for two more.

The senior QB spread the ball around with James Washington, Marcell Ateman and Dillon Stoner all eclipsing 100 receiving yards. Washington pulled to within 68 yards of the OSU all-time receiving yard record held by Rashaun Woods and has a bowl game to claim it.

Ateman’s four catches for 107 yards pushed him over 1,000 for the season, making this the first Big 12 offense to ever field a 4,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard receivers and a 1,000-yard rusher.

Several seniors on defense also made some hay on their last game in Stillwater. Chad Whitener grabbed his second interception on the season and DeQuinton Osborne had three tackle for loss and a sack. Ramon Richards led all tacklers with eight as well as two tackles for loss and a pass breakup. Tre Flowers had five and his own breakup.

The Cowboys dominated the game from the kick, as they should have. Kansas is now 1-26 in conference play since David Beaty took the reins in 2015. The Cowboys now await their bowl bid to see where 21 seniors will play their final collegiate game.
