Is OSU about to lose an OL commit to Texas A&M?

The contact period for recruitment began this week, which means coaches and their staffs are out on the road making visits and doing everything in their power to recruit with no limitations by the NCAA.

The contact period this time of year can also be coined as “decommitment season” as coaches scramble to fill scholarship positions and recruits begin to rethink their original decisions.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, decommitment season has been nasty in recent years, most recently losing running back Ronald Jones III to USC last year.

This year, it appears the staff may be preparing to lose another commitment – this time along the offensive line.

Ryan McCollum, a 6-5, 270-pound offensive tackle from Klein Oak, Texas, has been a long-time commit to OSU but recently picked up an offer from Texas A&M on Nov. 19, and things appear to be picking up between the two parties.

McCollum has made several visits to Aggieland since his offer, but also made a visit to Stillwater for the Bedlam game last weekend.

According to false reports yesterday, McCollum flipped his commitment to A&M, and he refuted the claims on twitter yesterday.

But with his status up in the air at this point in the recruiting process, don’t be surprised to see a decision, one way or another, in the coming weeks. Things don’t appear to be leaning the right direction for the Pokes.
