Brad Underwood Says Jawun Evans Has Handled Injury Comeback ‘Unbelievably’
Jawun Evans, back. Kyle Boone discussed this briefly yesterday, but Evans and head coach Brad Underwood spoke about it on Monday as the OSU basketball team got its summer workouts underway.
“I feel great,” said Evans recently about getting back to hoops. “To be honest, I feel good. We’re just going day by day. I’ve been working out, working on my shot. Getting back out there with my teammates … it feels great to be back working out with the new coaches.”
Underwood spoke glowingly about his superstar. The way he talked about him had me giddy to see what he could get out of him in a revamped offense (I AM EXCITED FOR BASKETBALL SEASON WHAT ARE THESE FEELINGS I’M FEELING?)
“The one thing that’s impressed me the most with Jawun is his commitment to get back,” added Underwood. “A shoulder injury is a major injury, it’s a major recovery process and it’s not easy. For an 18-year-old 19-year-old kid to go through that, it can challenge you mentally. He’s handled it unbelievably.”
And Evans seems to have all the things you want out of a leader. Humility, good work ethic and oh yeah, he’s really good at basketball.
Jawun out for the yr. His per 40 stats vs. Smart’s 1st year.

“It humbled me even more because tomorrow is not promised,” said Evans. “You have to work hard the days you have here. Every day go hard like it’s your last day.”
