Jawun Evans Named All-American, Receives All-District Honors
After earning All-Conference First-Team honors by the coaches and the AP, Jawun Evans has now earned his first All-American nod. The Sporting News announced their All-American teams for the 2016-17 season and Evans was named their third-team point guard.
This makes Evans the 21st Cowboy to receive the coveted All-American moniker. The last one to do so was Marcus Smart in 2013-14.
Evans is averaging 18.7 points per game (second in the Big 12), 6.3 assists (first in the Big 12) and 1.9 steals.
The honors didn’t stop there. He and teammate Jeffrey Carroll were named as members of the All-District VI team by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Carroll is one of the most improved players in the country and has been keeping some pretty good historical company.
Jeff Carroll is the 4th player in B12 to finish in conf. top 10 in scoring, rebs & 3pt%. Others: Kevin Durant,Jordan Hamilton, Georges Niang
