Kansas Coach Compares Oklahoma State Defensive Line to Alabama Title Team

Kansas coach David Beaty is impressed with Oklahoma State’s defensive line. And he should be.

“They’re good,” said Beaty on Saturday. “That’s probably as good a pass rush team I’ve seen in a long time from a lot of people. They’re big, and they’re fast. We were hoping we could get the tempo going by stringing some first downs together and try to slow them down and affect them a little bit. When we did that, we actually had some success. On the touchdown we scored with (Stephen) Sims, we were able to get the tempo going a little bit, and that tempers those big dudes a little bit.”

He took it further though.

“The last group I played against that was that big was Alabama back when I was at (Texas) A&M that first year.

That would be 2012. The year Bama went 13 and won it all.

“Those dudes are big dudes, and that defensive end (Emmanuel Ogbah) is a monster. He is a really, really talented guy. A lot of the things we did, we played into their hands a lot of times. But I will give them credit, they’re really good up front.”

He is certainly a monster.

“It was really different than watching the film, then seeing it in person, but we basically got it from watching the film,” added offensive lineman Keyon Haughton. “It was easier to watch it in person and understand where they were coming from.”

Oklahoma State is third in the country with 9.57 TFLs per game and first (!) in the country with 4.0 sacks per game. Oklahoma State!
