Keegan Moore and Andrew Marsden to Wrestle for the Starting Spot at 184 on Sunday
John Smith announced on the coaches show Thursday that Keegan Moore and Andrew Marsden will have a ranking match for the starting spot at 184 on Sunday.
Keegan has been starting most duals for the Cowboys at 184 and with Preston Weigel being injured for a large part of this season, Andrew Marsden has been wrestling up at 197 for the Cowboys.
Coach Smith cited that as the main reason for giving Marsden the opportunity to rank for the starting spot here. Smith stated it wasn’t a scenario where he felt Moore had really did anything wrong to open the door for Marsden, but that with Marsden being forced to bump up for the team in duals he really hadn’t been given a full opportunity to cut down to 184 properly to wrestle for the spot.
Whoever wins the starting job will need to finish 4th or higher at the Big 12 tournament to get an automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.
