King of the Game Recap: OSU vs. Iowa State

Published

on

Well, that was close.

The Cardiac Cowboys made another appearance on Saturday in Ames. Luckily, the ended up on the right side of the scoreboard to keep another 10-win season intact.

It’s also so much more fun to award points after a victory than a loss. Before we do that, the rules: every player gets a point for a correct pick. We tally up the points each week and the player with the most points at the end of OSU’s season (bowl game included) wins! Wins what? Bragging rights.

Before we do that, let’s recap our categories from the week. (Here is the original post.)

• Bet Against the Spread: OSU (-7)
For a bit there, it didn’t look like it was going to happen, but the Cowboys were victorious and covered!

• More Turnovers: Iowa State
There was a total of one turnover in the whole game, which was surprising. Luckily for OSU, it was on Iowa State and came at the perfect time.

• Over/Under: Over
WAAAAAAY over. OSU scored 49 points on Saturday, and needed every one of them to pull out the win.

• King of the Game: Justice Hill
What a battle. Justice Hill and David Montgomery were the two best players on the field on Saturday and both played fantastic games. Hill had 134 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries. Montgomery had 105 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries. It was really close, but with OSU coming out victorious and Hill having both a better YPC and longest run, he gets the gameball.

Let’s award points

Phillip Slavin – 1 point(s)

Bet Against the Spread: Iowa State
More Turnovers: OSU
Over/Under: Over
King of the Game: J.D. King
Prop Bet: OSU holds Iowa State scoreless in at least two quarters.
Nope. Not even close.

Kyle Cox – 2 points

Bet Against the Spread: Iowa State
More Turnovers: OSU
Over/Under: Over.
King of the Game: Justice Hill
Prop Bet: There will be a controversial “missed” field goal but it won’t affect the outcome of the game. I hope.
Thankfully this didn’t happen and Ammendola made both attempts.

Nick Welch – 3 points

Bet Against the Spread: OSU
More Turnovers: OSU
Over/Under: Over
King of the Game: Justice Hill
Prop Bet: To my recollection, OSU has not attempted a flee flicker in conference play which is odd since that was their favorite “trick play” last season. I think that play reappears in Ames on Saturday.
I don’t recall one. If I’m wrong, you guys will let me know.

Enemy: Levi Stevenson – 1 point(s)

Bet Against the Spread: Iowa State
More Turnovers: OSU
Over/Under: Over
King of the Game: David Montgomery
Prop Bet: The 2011 game will be brought up no later than the end of the first quarter.
I don’t remember this, unless it happened pre-game.

Fan: Carlie Goekeler – 3 points

Bet Against the Spread: OSU
More Turnovers: OSU
Over/Under: Over
King of the Game: Justice Hill
Prop Bet: Dillon Stoner throws a touchdown pass. Look for Sergeant Stoner to be a part of a magical trick play Saturday. Gundy threw him out there last year with the season on the line so the trust is definitely there.
I wish. This would have been amazing.

Enemy – 31
Fan – 27
Phillip – 19
Nick – 19
Kyle – 16

Thanks to Carlie making a return, the gap on the enemy has closed a bit more. Thanks Carlie.
