Marcell Ateman on 2017 Receivers: ‘We’re Going To Be Deadly’

Oklahoma State’s wide receiver group for next season has been well-documented since it was announced that Marcell Ateman would be back for his senior season. Here is the returning group.

  • James Washington
  • Marcell Ateman
  • Chris Lacy
  • Dillon Stoner
  • Jalen McCleskey
  • Tyron Johnson

This is why trades should be legal in college football. OSU would be able to unload two WRs to OU for some help at running back or the offensive line. Mark Cooper of the Tulsa World spoke with Ateman recently at Alamo Bowl workouts. No. 3 hasn’t talked much at all this year after having to sit out the season. He interestingly told Cooper that if he didn’t return by the first Big 12 game he wanted to sit the whole year to have some good film to give to the NFL.

Ateman also got excited when talking about his partners in crime next year at wideout.

“We’re going to be deadly, man,” Ateman told the Tulsa World. “It’s going to be a real, real problem for people.”

Yes it is. Try to rank them. You can’t. The President (presuming he comes back) is No. 1, but who’s No. 2? You can make the case for everybody but probably Stoner. And we haven’t even mentioned incoming freshman Tylan Wallace.

So yes, OSU’s receivers are going to be a big problem for Big 12 teams next season, and hopefully Ateman will get to be a part of it this time around. With Year 2 of Justice Hill at QB and one final ride for QB1, OSU could be in for its best offensive season since 2011.
