Meet one of OSU Baseball’s Biggest Supporters

More than 6,000 miles, three tire rotations and two oil changes. That’s the final toll on Tyler Segraves vehicle since the baseball regionals started for Oklahoma State.

Segraves, a die-hard OSU baseball fan all season from the OKC area, was even more so in the postseason. He made it to two games in the Big 12 tournament and every College World Series game except one during the Cowboys incredible run to Omaha, where they came just one game away from advancing to the Championship Series.

“I’ve had a lot of trips to the car dealership for some oil changes,” Tyler said. “After all the work I’ve had done to my car this postseason, those people at the dealership are definitely loving me right now. I’m keeping them in business, for sure.”

And despite the wear and tear on both the car and the body, Tyler emphatically says he would do it all over again should the Cowboys repeat their magical run again.

“It was worth the trips to see those guys faces, to be there in the crazy atmosphere, and to see the players parents reaction,” he said. “I can’t speak highly enough of their families, how they took me in and treated me like family. I was all by myself and they just welcomed me with open arms.”

And now that the Omaha hump has been jumped for Holliday, the feeling around the fan base and with the players and family is a positive vibe. Getting back to Omaha is no longer the goal; it seems to be the expectation.

“I talked to Trey Cobb’s dad, and he goes ‘man, these players paved the road to Omaha’. Now we can use that road every year. We can only go up from here.”

And Tyler, perhaps the biggest OSU baseball fan, is a firm believer that Holliday has helped return the program to national prominence.

“The way Josh is trending up with this team, the recruits he’s getting, just the way he coaches — I just think the road to Omaha is going to be a road much more traveled.”
