All (outward) signs point to status quo in the QB department.

STILLWATER — Mike Gundy’s answer was blunt.

When asked if quarterback reps have changed any during practices this week, Gundy shook his and said, “No.”

Taylor Cornelius has started Oklahoma State’s opening seven games at quarterback. He ranks sixth in the country with 2,014 passing yards, but he has also thrown eight interceptions, which is tied for the second-most in the country.

The Cowboys’ 4-3 record indicates to some that a quarterback change might benefit the team moving forward, but Gundy said the reps have stayed with Cornelius.

“If we thought we had players that would improve us drastically, or even some, we would’ve already made that move,” Gundy said. “We’ve got the guys out there that we feel like need to get the quality reps. We need to do a better job of coaching them.”

Gundy said Cornelius has been business as usual after OSU’s loss to K-State. The 14th-year head coach says likes quarterbacks who don’t get caught in the highs and lows of a season but rather stay even keel.

“He could probably win the lottery and you wouldn’t know it,” Gundy said. “That’s just his temperament. I wish I could tell you that there’s been one thing different from the other, but he’s been the same. He came in today and met with me at 9:45 like always. We went over the gameplan. Practice is the same. … He’s buying in. I don’t see much change in his demeanor at all.

“Nobody wants to be successful more than him. He’s doing a good job and handling himself the right way.”
