Offensive lineman Monroe Mills committed to Oklahoma State over the weekend during a recruiting visit, giving OSU its 14th commitment of the cycle. Mills, a towering tackle who held offers from nearly two dozen schools — including the in-state Missouri Tigers — explained in an interview shortly after his commitment that he was teetering on an OSU pledge until his visit finally pushed him over the edge.

“The recruitment process is an exciting time, but it’s finally kinda over now,” he told ABC17 News. “I think getting down there [to Stillwater], seeing the campus sold me. Getting to see the lay of the land, the stadium, the coaches — getting to meet them. That was super important, and it pushed me over the edge.”

New offensive line coach Charlie Dickey was the lead recruiter for Mills, but as ever, questions about Gundy and his interactions with the head man arose during the interview and Mills laid it on thick.

“He seems like a really family-oriented man. He seems like he really cares about that, which is super important to me,” he said. “He also seems like a really intense man. He’s going to push you to do your best.”

And with a grin, he added: “He definitely has the best hair in college football.”

Mills will miss his senior season after tearing his ACL recently, but he’s bound-and-determined to get healthy before his OSU career begins in 2020. He says he’s focused on getting back to full strength, adding weight and lifting weights, and preparing for the six-hour move from his home state to be a productive college player at full strength.
