Newcomer Tracker: Jarrick Bernard Continues to Shine as True Freshman
There were a couple of bright spots for OSU from its newcomers against Tech.
True freshman Jarrick Bernard’s breakout year continued on Saturday, as he hauled in his first career interception and notched his first double-digit solo tackle day as a Cowboy.
No. 24 was the lone bright spot for an OSU secondary that was otherwise dim, giving up 41 points, 397 yards passing and 621 total yards of offense. Another standout newcomer on Saturday was defensive end Michael Scott, who was used as a hybrid linebacker. He had a quarterback hurry, two sacks and three tackles.

All told, only two true freshmen have appeared in all four games this season: Peel and Bernard, meaning any more time they see on the field this season will officially forfeit their redshirt status.
Cornerback Tanner McCalister has played in three games and isn’t likely to redshirt. True freshmen JayVeon Cardwell, Sean Flanagan, Jonathan Shepherd, Tyrese Williams and Kanion Williams have all played in a game a piece. They can play in up to three more games while maintaining their redshirt.
Here’s an updated look at the newcomers season stats with this past weekends results.
