Newcomer Tracker: Spencer Sanders Nearing Interesting Stretch in Season

After Taylor Cornelius and OSU’s offensive gameplan had a dud-of-a-game against Kansas State, questions about whether Dru Brown — or true freshman Spencer Sanders — deserve to be inserted for a change of pace have been swirling as the team savors its bye week on a two-game losing skid.

Now is when things get interesting.

The Cowboys have five games left on their regular season schedule, and per the NCAA’s new redshirt rule, players can play in up to four games while preserving their eligibility. So does OSU unleash Sanders with no concerns, a la Mason Rudolph 2014? Does it trot out Dru Brown, the No. 2 man on the depth chart? Or does Cornelius, who has played very well save for the K State game, get more leeway as OSU looks to course correct against Texas?

These are questions Mike Gundy and his squad will look to address during the rest week.
