NFL Update: Carson Scores Twice, Several Pokes Are Beat Up
Catch up with former Pokes after the NFL’s Week 2.
Week 2 of the NFL season is now in the rearview, so let’s take a look at how some former Cowboys fared.
Chris Carson Find the End Zone Twice
Carson took 13 of the 14 handoffs from Russell Wilson during Seattle’s 33-30 overtime loss to the Titans, but he only totaled 31 yards of the Seahawks’ 77 on the ground.
However, he did find pay dirt twice.
Jarwin’s Blocking Woes an Anomaly
A week after make Twitter timelines for his lack of blocking, Blake Jarwin turned in a solid performance supporting the Cowboys’ run game. Dallas ran the ball for 198 yards and won a 20-17 nail-biter over the Chargers.
The former OSU tight end was also productive in the passing game, hauling in three of his four targets for 37 yards.
Chuba Got Some Carries
A week after logging zero carries in his NFL debut, Chuba Hubbard took eight handoffs while Carolina’s starting tailback Christian McCaffrey dealt with cramp issues. Unfortunately, Hubbard didn’t get to display his patented speed, amassing just 10 total yards.
With McCaffrey set to take the lion’s share of reps in the backfield, the Panthers aren’t expecting Chuba to throw out big numbers immediately. But as we know, it only takes a sliver of daylight for him to make a highlight reel play. Keep an eye out for Hubbard on Thursday night as the Panthers face off against the Texans.
Pokes Dropping Like Flies
Several Cowboys have already seen their season’s end early, or are at least facing a significant sideline sentence, and that was before Week 2. Justice Hill is done for the year thanks to a torn Achilles. Teven Jenkins’ sought-after debut with the Bears will have to wait until next year after the second round pick underwent back surgery before he ever saw the field. Vincent Taylor looked like he’d found a home in Houston after earning a Week 1 starting job, only to sustain his third major lower extremity injury of his career. He’s out 6-8 weeks after undergoing ankle surgery.
Other Notes
• Matt Ammendola went 2-for-3 with a long of 35 yards.
• Emmanuel Ogbah had four total tackles and a half sack, but his Dolphins got blown out 35-0 by the Buffalo Bills.
