NFL Update: Chuba Hubbard, Jaylen Warren Could Each Be in Line for More Reps

It looks like there will be more carries available for both former OSU tailbacks.

It was a bit of a quiet week for former Cowboys in the NFL, but a couple of OSU tailbacks made some plays — and may be in line for even more opportunities.

Let’s take a look at some highlights from across the leage.

Chuba Finds the End Zone

The former Cowboy found the end zone for the third time this season in the Panthers’ 34-3 blowout win over Atlanta. He’s now had two by air and one score in the ground game.

Hubbard carried the ball 12 times for 53 yards and caught both passes thrown his way including that score. But you can expect those numbers to go up moving forward.

Fellow Carolina running back Jonathan Brooks is set to undergo surgery and be out extended time after leaving the game on Sunday. He’ll be placed on the injured reserved list. That means the brunt of the RB reps will revert back to Hubbard, who has been in a competition with Brooks throughout the past two seasons.

Warren Is the Outlet

The Steelers suffered a tough loss to the Patriots this past weekend, but Jaylen Warren at least made a nice play on this checkdown.


Warren amassed 43 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for 34 including that 26-yard play. Like Hubbard’s, Warren’s usage might also go up due to injury.

Fellow Pittsburgh RB Rico Dowdle left Sunday’s game with a toe injury and is currently listed as day-to-day.

Other Numbers

• Tyler Lacy had two tackles in the Lions’ 41-31 loss to the Bills.

• Malcolm Rodriguez had one tackle in the game as well.

• Justice Hill had two carries for six yards and caught two passes for 12 yards in the Ravens’ 24-17 loss to the Saints.

• Ollie Gordon II had three carries for seven yards in the Dolphins’ 35-13 loss to the 49ers.
