NFL Update: It’s a Good Time to be an Oklahoma State Fan (if You Watch the NFL)

Several former Cowboys made big plays and big contributions to their teams this past weekend.

Let’s dive into some of the highlights by former Cowboys in the NFL, starting with a former Oklahoma State running back who’s taken the reins of his offense.

Chuba is on a Roll

Over the last two weeks, Chuba Hubbard has been proving why he’s the top back in Carolina.

The former Oklahoma State running back is currently ranked ninth in the NFL in rushing with 296 yards so far in the early goings. He is coming off consecutive 100-yard games and even found the end zone during the Panthers’ 34-24 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. He finished this week with 104 yards and that score on 18 carries.

Here’s another interesting stat, especially if Chuba’s available in any of your fantasy leagues. Of the 28 running backs to take more than 40 handoffs this season, Chuba has averaged more yards per carry (5.4) than all but J.K. Dobbins (6.1), Derrick Henry (6.0) and Saquon Barkley (6.0). Pretty good company.

Justice Finds the End Zone

Another former OSU running back found the end zone, but Justice Hill did most of his damage in the passing game.

There are plenty of mouths to feed when it comes to the Ravens’ rushing attack between the likes of the aforementioned Henry and dynamic QB Lamar Jackson. But Hill is too dynamic not to try to get the ball, and he’s worked himself into a crucial role in Baltimore’s offense. He showed that off on Sunday during the Ravens’ 35-10 win over the Bills.


Hill has amassed only 76 rushing yards in four games this season, but his 161 receiving yards ranks second on the team behind Isaiah Likely’s 167 despite being a running back. And his catch rate (88.9%) is the highest on the roster by a decent margin.

Rudolph Steps In

Mason Rudolph got the chance to step in for the Titans this weekend and led his new team to its first win of the year.

Starting QB Will Levis went down awkwardly on his shoulder and that led to Rudolph getting his first snaps since coming over from Pittsburgh this offseason. He completed nine of his 17 pass attempts for 85 yards, but Tennessee’s offense reached 30 points for the first time this season, defeating Miami 31-12.


While it was obvious to many that Rudolph had a better grasp of the offense, Titans coach Brian Callahan said that when he’s healthy, Levis will be the starter over Rudolph.

Rodrigo Gets to Geno

Former OSU linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez logged his second career sack during the Lions’ 42-29 win over the Seahawks. He finished the game with five tackles, a tackle for loss and that sack.
