Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Go 1-2 In Weekly Power Rankings
This is a guest post by Derek Duke who writes for Heartland College Sports.
Another college football Saturday has come and gone yet again. After all the excitement of last weekend and the time change on Sunday, you’re probably a little bit bummed to be back at work this week..
No worries my friend, I have exactly what you need to cure your Monday blues. From ten to one, I have a Big 12 power ranking to get your week off on the right track.
10. Kansas (1-8, 0-6 ) Trend: Down
After getting spanked in Morgantown, this team is running out of chances to win a conference game. Head Coach David Beaty still has a long way to go with this football team. (Next up: vs. ISU)
9. Iowa State (1-8, 0-6) Trend: Down
The Cyclones have shown improvement over recent weeks, but unfortunately they are still winless in conference play. The good news is that the Cyclones will play Kansas this week. Depending on if the Cyclones show up or not will determine if they get their first conference victory. (Next up: @ KU)
8. Texas Tech (4-5, 2-4) Trend: Down
While the Red Raiders may have the best offenses in the country, their defense could not stop a nose bleed even if there was a Kleenex box right in front of them. Unless the defense drastically improves, this team will be in a shootout every week. (Next up: @ OSU)
7. Baylor (6-2, 3-2) Trend: Down (imagine falling from an Airplane in the sky)
After getting dismantled by TCU at home, this football team is on a downward spiral. There are more things going on at Baylor than one could possibly fathom. To put it simply, there are too many distractions off the field. (Next up: @ OU)
6. TCU (5-4, 3-3) Trend: Neutral
Kenny Hill has been anything but “Trill” for the Frogs. The defense has buckled up in recent weeks, but the quarterback play for this team will limit them down the road. Yes they crushed Baylor, but Baylor is going down a path that few will travel. (Next up: BYE)
5. Texas (5-4, 3-3) Trend: Neutral
One week Charlie Strong is the head coach, the next week he is going to be fired. Well he won this week so I guess he can stay (for now). After a reeling off two straight wins, Texas will have a huge test this coming weekend against WVU. (Next up: vs. WVU)
4. Kansas State (5-4, 3-3) Trend: Neutral
Don’t let their record fool you, Bill Snyder is still a wizard. This team could have easily beaten OSU this past weekend if not for their lackluster passing game. You know what you get when you play against this football team.
3. West Virginia (7-1, 4-1) Trend: Up
Even with their recent loss to OSU, this team had a great confidence builder this past weekend playing Kansas. This is still a good football team and they will have a big test ahead of them by traveling to Austin next weekend. (Next up: @ Texas)
2. Oklahoma State (8-1 I mean 7-2, 5-1) Trend: Up
Just like Mike Gundy’s mullet continues to grow, so does this team’s confidence. After a tricky win in Manhattan, the Cowboys still control their own destiny in the Big 12. (Next up: vs TTU)
1. Oklahoma (7-2, 6-0) Trend: Up
After beating ISU, Oklahoma is still the only unbeaten team in conference play. They still have a few tough tests left before we crown them Big 12 champs. (Next Up: vs. BU)
