Oklahoma State 100-1 to win 2018 CFB National Championship

New year, same favorites. With 2017 in the books and 2018 on deck, Alabama and Clemson are the favorites once again to win it all (and why not?) with Georgia and Ohio State just behind them. Oklahoma State, which had 33-1 odds this time last year, opens at 100-1.

We’ll look first at the heavyweights.

The Favorites
Team Odds
Alabama 11-4
Clemson 6-1
Georgia 15-2
Ohio State 15-2
Michigan 9-1
Penn State 11-1
Oklahoma 18-1

Michigan? I know Shea Patterson is probably going to be immediately eligible, but the team that lost to South Carolina in a bowl game has better odds than Penn State and OU?

The Fringe Favorites
Team Odds
Auburn 20-1
Texas 20-1
Miami 22-1
Wisconsin 22-1
LSU 25-1
Michigan State 25-1
Washington 28-1

Texas! Every year, it’s incredible. Also, Auburn at 20-1 with Jarrett Stidham returning is a great play. Give me all of that one.

The Darkhorses
Team Odds
FSU 33-1
Notre Dame 33-1
Stanford 33-1
Texas A&M 33-1
USC 33-1
Virginia Tech 33-1
West Virginia 33-1
Florida 50-1
Oregon 50-1
TCU 50-1
UCLA 75-1

I love the random UCLA at 75-1, which screams, “we don’t know what to do with Chip Kelly losing the No. 1 pick in the draft!” Also, if Texas A&M or Florida win it all next year, I will eat my laptop on Periscope.

The Longshots
Team Odds
Arizona 100-1
Boise State 100-1
Kansas State 100-1
Mississippi State 100-1
Missouri 100-1
NC State 100-1
Oklahoma State 100-1
UCF 100-1
Utah 100-1
Wake Forest 100-1

Arizona is a fun bet because of Khalil Tate, UCF is fun because they’re the defending national champions and Oklahoma State is actually a good bet because it has so many weapons and a great unknown at QB. Betting on unknowns at these odds is how you should roll, even if 9-10 wins is probably the ceiling for the Pokes in 2018.
