Oklahoma State DE Arrested in Library Situation Involving Ramon Richards and the Dust Bowl

The Stillwater Newspress is reporting that redshirt freshman defensive end Trey Carter was arrested and charged with larceny late in July. The details, though, the details are very strange.
According to the OSU Police affidavit, Carter and sophomore cornerback Ramon Richards were on the fourth floor of the library July 23. Cory Seth Hopcus was wearing headphones while studying at a desk from 7:20 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hopkins noticed two males walk by, but told police he didn’t think much of it. The males asked another student to help them find the book, “Dust Bowl Diaries.” When Hopcus prepared to leave the library, he noticed his watch was missing.
There’s definitely a bowl game/Richards joke in there somewhere, but that’s for another time. So did Carter swipe Hopcus’ watch?
Carter told (the officer) he had found it on the floor at the library and took the watch. He noticed the student sitting nearby, but didn’t ask if the watch belonged to him. Carter retrieved the watch from his room, returned it to Gibson and signed a statement. He was arrested at 11:33 p.m., according to the affidavit. Carter was released from jail on a personal recognizance bond. Richards wasn’t implicated in the larceny.
So … he sort of swiped it? Maybe? Or maybe not? Regardless, I’m guessing he gets to know a few of the steps at Boone Pickens Stadium over the next few weeks.
