Kalib Boone’s time in Stillwater has seemingly come to an end.

Boone, a 6-foot-9 forward from Tulsa, entered the transfer portal on Thursday after four seasons with the Cowboys where he tallied 960 points, 494 rebounds and 147 blocks in his tenure. That blocks mark puts him eighth on OSU’s all-time list.

Boone’s final season in Stillwater was filled with peaks and valleys. In a 12-game stretch from Jan. 7 to Feb. 14, Boone averaged 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks a game while shooting 68% from the field. But in the final 10 games of the year, Boone averaged just 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and one block a game while shooting 48% from the field.

When he was on his game, Boone was borderline unguardable, putting up 27 points against Kansas on Valentine’s Day.

He came to Stillwater alongside his twin brother, Keylan, as part of Mike Boynton’s 2019 recruiting class. Keylan left OSU ahead of last season for Pacific but has since reentered the portal.

After spending four seasons with the Cowboys, Boone still has a year of eligibility left because of the pandemic.

Boone joins classmate Avery Anderson in the portal out of OSU. OSU coach Mike Boynton warned of roster “fluidity” in his postseason news conference. The Cowboys’ staff has been active in the portal, reaching out to myriad players, mainly guards with a knack for hitting 3-point shots.

Despite losing Boone, the Cowboys still appear to be in a good spot moving forward in terms of post players. Moussa Cisse and Tyreek Smith have yet to enter the portal as of writing, and McDonald’s All-American Brandon Garrison is set to join the fold next season.
