Oklahoma State Golf Commit Wins Junior Golf Event Attended by Tiger Woods
Ah the Junior Invitational. Not exactly the Western Am or the U.S. Amateur, but a pretty salty amateur event nonetheless. Tiger Woods even showed up earlier this week to show off his swing (or what’s left of it).
The event was won on a pretty awesome birdie putt by OSU commit Austin Eckroat who, according to Golf Channel, is the only freshman to ever win the Oklahoma 6A state title. He hit a 2 iron t0 15 feet.
“I knew it was good when I heard the claps,” he told Golf Channel. “It was the most clutch shot I ever hit.”
Then he nailed the putt.

“I couldn’t get it high enough,” he told Golf Channel. “I kept under-reading it. So on that one I made sure I hit it high enough. I thought I made it dead center, so I took a step, and then it broke even more, and went in the left side. I walked it in.”
Pretty cool stuff … especially with Big Cat looking on.
