Oklahoma State Golf Team In Second Place Headed into Sunday’s NCAA Championships
The Oklahoma State golf team made a jump up the leaderboard on Saturday by posting a second-round score of 285 to move from fifth to second place going into Sunday. Texas Tech leads the field at 5-under, but the Cowboys are one stroke behind at 4-under after a sluggish start.
“I like that we shot lower than the first round,” head coach Alan Bratton said of his team’s Saturday showing. “It’s a long week so that’s the goal: to get better every day. We like where we ended up so I’m pleased. Hopefully we draw some more people out. That was the best part of the day, was seeing the crowds lining the fairway. Hopefully us being somewhere near the top brings out more people. We can keep giving them something to cheer about.”
Freshman standout Austin Eckroat led the way for OSU by carding a 2-under 70 to put him at 3-under on the tournament, tied for 13th overall. Viktor Hovland shot a 71 on Saturday and stands at even-over for the tournament, good for a tie for 28th overall alongside teammate Matthew Wolff, who turned in a 73 in the second round.
