Triplett considers OSU the favorite, but he’s playing out his recruitment.

Three-star linebacker Jabar Triplett cut his list Monday from 15 to eight schools as he nears closer to a decision, and Oklahoma State remains squarely in the mix. Also included is Arizona, Texas Tech, Colorado State, South Alabama, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State and Southern.

The 6-foot-tall, 215-pound outside linebacker from Baton Rouge had previously named Oklahoma State the favorite in June shortly after an official visit to Oklahoma State.

Oklahoma State offered in early May this year, one of the first Power 5 programs to do so behind only Louisville (who has since been nixed from his list). A month later, he visited on an official, all-expenses paid visit where he saw Mike Gundy’s house, the House that Boone Built, and the facilities. Judging from his Twitter, he enjoyed his time at OSU.

Triplett could be a natural replacement in OSU’s 2020 cycle for in-state star Brynden Walker, who decommitted from OSU and committed to OU earlier this summer.

OSU already has two commitments at linebacker in the 2020 class but both — in-state standouts Jeff Roberson and Cole Thompson — are listed as inside linebackers. Triplett is one of a handful of outside backer targets that also includes Arkansas star Catrell Wallace.
