Oklahoma State Offers In-State 2023 Defensive Back Kanijal Thomas
OSU is in early on the Del City DB.
The Cowboys’ coaching staff is looking well into the future with its most recent offer.
Class of 2023 defensive back Kanijal Thomas announced an Oklahoma State offer Wednesday. That means Thomas, who is from Del City, is just heading into his sophomore season in 2020.
After great conversation with @CoachTimDuffie I am very thankful to receive an offer from Oklahoma State University. @CoachGRichDL @CoachGundy @JoeReynoldsOSU @Coach_Mike_D @Coach_Rob_J #GoPokes #LetsRide

Here is a quick breakdown of the latest in-state standout OSU is after.
Who is He?
247Sports lists Thomas as a safety, but in his offer tweet, the first coach he mentions is OSU corners coach Tim Duffie. So for now, we’ll just call him a defensive back.
He primarily played safety for Del City as a freshman in 2019, but his highlights also show him lined up some as a nickel corner. He started nine games for the Eagles as a freshman, where he recorded 43 tackles.
Thomas is listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds, which makes you wonder just how big he will be as a senior.
Del City went 9-3 in Oklahoma’s 6A-II last season, beating Booker T. Washington in the first round of the playoffs before falling to eventual state champ Bixby. The nine wins are the most Del City has had since 2012.
Others Involved
Oklahoma State’s offer to Thomas comes just a day after Memphis became his first Division-I offer.
In the Rankings
None of the major recruiting services even have 2023 rankings yet, so Thomas, like every other player in his class, is currently unranked.
OSU in 2023
Thomas becomes just the 10th player OSU has offered this early in the 2023 cycle.
He is the second in-state player the Pokes have offered, pairing with Mustang’s Jacobe Johnson.
It’s too early to project exactly what OSU’s defensive back room would look like in 2023. Barring a redshirt, 2023 would be the year after Thomas Harper’s senior year, so only guys who are freshmen or redshirt freshmen on OSU’s current roster would still be in Stillwater. So, guys like Nick Sessions, Jordan Reagan and Demarco Jones would be included in that.
