The Cowboys are after another prospect who has played junior college football in Kansas.

Hutchinson Community College (KS) safety Marquise Gilbert announced an Oklahoma State offer Friday, making the Cowboys his first Power Five offer.

Who Is He?

Listed at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Gilbert won an NJCAA national championship with the Blue Dragons this summer. He had four tackles and a pass breakup in the championship game.

On the year, Gilbert had 12 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and two interceptions, according to Hutchinson’s website. He made a 100-yard touchdown return on one of his INTs and returned the fumble recovery 57 yards for a score.

Originally from Palm Coast, Florida, Gilbert initially went to Bethune Cookman out of Flagler Palm Coast High before making his way to Hutchinson.

Others Involved

Although OSU is the first Power Five program to extend an offer, the Pokes are far from the first program to reach out to the play-making safety. Gilbert also holds offers from East Carolina, Troy, Buffalo, Middle Tennessee State, Charlotte, Toledo and others.

Highlights
OSU’s 2022 Class

The Cowboys’ 2022 class is deep at offensive skill positions with the likes of Talyn Shettron, Ollie Gordon, CJ Brown, Garret Rangel and Braylin Presley pledged to be Pokes, but corners Cameron Epps and Dylahn McKinney are the only defensive backs in OSU’s class as things stand.
