Mike Gundy and Co. have sights set on the No. 3 junior college player in the nation.

Tiyon Evans announced and Oklahoma state offer Tuesday. Out of Hutchinson Community College (Kansas), Evans is the top-ranked running back at the junior college level.

As a freshman at Hutch last season, Evans ran for 538 yards and nine touchdowns on just 61 carries. That’s 8.8 yards per carry. He also scored on two of his 18 kick returns.

Evans’ return ability is made all the more impressive because he is listed at 5-foot-9, 225 pounds. That would make him the heaviest running back on OSU’s roster by nearly 10 pounds.

He also boasts offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, Houston, Maryland, UCF and Western Kentucky. If Evans chose OSU, he wouldn’t be the first Hutch running back to do so, as OSU nabbed Dezmon Jackson from the Blue Dragons a few years back.

Evans is the 12th running back OSU has offered in the cycle, according to 247Sports, but he is the first JUCO back the Cowboys have offered.

The Cowboys are off to a slow start in the 2021 cycle. OSU has only one commit, outside linebacker Kolbe Fields. The Cowboys’ class is ranked 79th nationally and last in the Big 12, but Evans could be the domino to get the Cowboys going in the right direction.
