The Cowboys nabbed defensive tackle Justin Kirkland from Utah Tech last year, and now they’re after another Trailblazer.

Syrus Webster, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive lineman from Utah Tech, announced an Oklahoma State offer Saturday. Webster was selected to the United Athletic Conference’s First Team this past season after recording 79 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Out of West Jordan High School (Utah), Webster was a two-star recruit in the 2021 class, choosing Utah Tech over offers from Idaho State and Southern Utah. He played as a true freshman at Utah Tech in 2021, leading all defensive linemen with 40 total tackles. He had five tackles for loss and two sacks as a true freshman. As a sophomore in 2022, Webster recorded 42 total tackles and a team-high 10 tackles for loss. He made the All-WAC first team that season, sharing the league’s lead in sacks with 5.5.

Webster played alongside Kirkland in 2022. Kirkland seemed excited about the offer, quote tweeting Webster’s tweet with “Let’s run it back.”

The Cowboys have a need at defensive end this offseason with contributors Anthony Goodlow and Nathan Latu exhausting their eligibility.
