The Big 12 made their pre-season rankings on Thursday, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, led by new head coach Brad Underwood, were picked to finish No. 7 in the conference in 2016-2017 by Big 12 coaches after being picked to finish eighth last year. Kansas is picked to win its 13th consecutive Big 12 title. Here’s the complete poll.

2016-17 Big 12 Preseason Poll
Team (1st-place votes) Points
1. Kansas (9)* 81
2. West Virginia 65
3. Texas 59
4. Iowa State (1) 56
5. Baylor 53
6. Oklahoma 40
7. Oklahoma State 32
7. Texas Tech 32
9. Kansas State 20
10. TCU 12

Nine points were awarded for first place, eight for second, etc. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own team.

A seventh-place finish for the Cowboys would put them right on the cusp of the NCAA tournament playing in the Big 12, which has led the nation in the RPI for three straight seasons. The Cowboys, return 2016-2017 preseason first team All-Big 12 guard Jawun Evans, the school’s number three all time 3-point shooter Phil Forte, senior Leyton Hammonds, and others.

I wanted to see where everyone thinks this team will finish.

They’ll look to bounce back from a disappointing 2015-2016, as they finished 12-20, and an abysmal 3-15 in the Big 12 in Travis Ford’s final season. Hopes are higher for this year’s Cowboy team, which begins their season with an exhibition November 1, against Pittsburgh State. Are you ready to bring the rowdy back?
