The premier high school quarterback camp made a stop in DFW this past weekend, and an Oklahoma State pledge turned some heads while throwing alongside the nation’s elite.

Garret Rangel, a class of 2022 OSU commit, got rave reviews from a handful of national recruiting analysts at Elite 11’s Dallas area regional camp. Elite 11 is a series of camps that was founded in 1999, bringing together the top quarterback prospects from around the nation.

There were more than 75 QBs in attendance at Southlake Carroll this past weekend, and Rangel was, by most accounts, a Top 5 guy in attendance. It was a tough camp to standout in with guys like this in attendance:

Quinn Ewers: The No. 1 overall prospect in 2022, an Ohio State commit.
Cade Klubnik: The No. 76 overall prospect in 2022, a Clemson commit, the No. 7 QB prospect in his class.
Nick Evers: The No. 283 overall prospect in 2022, a Florida commit, the No. 22 QB prospect in his class

But, standout Rangel did thanks to his pinpoint accuracy.

Sports Illustrated All-American ranked Rangel fifth among QBs in attendance, behind the three mentioned above and the uncommitted Landry Lyddy.

An Oklahoma State commitment out of Frisco (Texas) Lone Star, there isn’t a lot of spice to what he does from a physical standpoint but there wasn’t a more catchable pass-thrower on the field Sunday. Accurate to all three levels, timing, anticipation and touch paired with a tight spiral into the wind and out for Rangel. As he adds strength and potential explosiveness to his lower half, he will be able to manipulate the pocket at a higher clip, but the floor here is high anyway.

247Sports put him in their “next three” category with Klubnik and Evers behind only Ewers.

He was light on his feet and seemed as if all of his movements were measured, without being mechanical, while also competing with urgency and treating reps like game situations.

Camp outings like this provide more hype around OSU’s 2022 class that ranks 18th in the country, as of writing. Rangel will likely climb some rankings when they update, giving OSU an even better class, on paper, than it already is.
