Oklahoma State QB Commit Shane Illingworth to Miss Under Armour Game
Illingworth has an injury that he’s working to come back from.
Oklahoma State quarterback Shane Illingworth, the prized jewel of the 2020 recruiting class, announced Tuesday evening that he will be unable to play in this year’s Under Armour All-America game due to an injury he’s fighting to recover from.
The injury doesn’t sound serious, but it does sound like a nagging one. In his tweet Tuesday, he says he suffered it during the fifth week of his senior season and played through it while fighting to get back to 100%.

It’s unclear exactly what the injury is that Illingworth is dealing with, or whether it might require surgical repair, but either way this is a bummer for Illingworth and for OSU. The Under Armour game is where the nation’s top talent meets up, and this year, four-star running back target Daniyel Ngata is expected to be there. If the two had been able to link up, it’s possible that kinship could have been fruitful for OSU.
On the bright side, Illingworth is thinking ahead here. By mitigating further injury risk and sitting out this game, he’s got an eye on his next stop, at Oklahoma State, where he could potentially start at QB3 on the depth chart as soon as next year.
