Oklahoma State Releases 2023 Football Schedule

The Big 12 schedule release is usually a formality, but not for the 2023 season.

It’s no longer a nine-game round robin with UCF, Houston, Cincinnati and BYU set to join the league this upcoming season. The Big 12 is up to 14 teams for at least this year before OU and Texas find a way to the SEC. Oklahoma State won’t play everyone every year any more, but without further ado, here is a look at the Cowboys’ full 2023 schedule.

Oklahoma State is playing all four conference newcomers with all coming toward the end of the season.

The slate of newcomers starts with Cincinnati coming to Stillwater for Homecoming on Oct. 28 before the Pokes take back-to-back trips to UCF and Houston on Nov. 11 and Nov. 18, respectively. OSU closes the year by hosting BYU.

OSU is 2-1 all-time against Cincinnati. The teams most recently played in 1983 where OSU won on the road. The Bearcats won the only game in Stillwater on 1959.

This will be the first meeting between OSU and UCF.

OSU is 9-10-1 against Houston all-time. The teams most recently met in 2009, a 45-35 win for the Cougars. The teams’ last game in Houston came in 2006, where the Cougars won 34-25.

The Cowboys have played BYU twice, winning 1974 and 1976. Both were neutral site games.

Nov. 4’s Bedlam should be the last one in Stillwater for the foreseeable future and might be the last Bedlam regardless of location for the foreseeable future. Even if Oklahoma stays in the Big 12 through the 2024 season, that Bedlam game would be in Norman. A win this year would mean the Cowboys closed out the Bedlam series with consecutive wins at home after beating OU in 2021.

Houston is the only Big 12 school from the Lone Star State the Cowboys will play in 2023. TCU, Texas Tech, Texas and Baylor are all absent from the Cowboys’ schedule.
