Oklahoma State Third-Highest Ranked Team in College Football 27 Video Game
Another sign that college football is close: video game ratings.
After two years in the Big 12 basement, the Cowboys are back to being among the most talented teams in the league … at least according to a video game.
EA Sports has released its team rankings for the College Football 27 video game that is set to release worldwide on July 9. The Cowboys are tied with Houston for the third-highest overall rating among Big 12 schools.
| Team | Overall | Offense | Defense |
| Texas Tech | 87 | 85 | 90 |
| BYU | 86 | 86 | 86 |
| Houston | 83 | 85 | 80 |
| Oklahoma State | 83 | 85 | 81 |
| Arizona | 82 | 82 | 82 |
| Arizona State | 81 | 78 | 83 |
| Colorado | 81 | 81 | 82 |
| Kansas State | 81 | 83 | 80 |
| UCF | 81 | 82 | 80 |
| Utah | 81 | 83 | 78 |
| TCU | 80 | 81 | 78 |
| Baylor | 79 | 78 | 80 |
| Cincinnati | 79 | 80 | 77 |
| West Virginia | 78 | 81 | 76 |
| Iowa State | 77 | 77 | 77 |
| Kansas | 77 | 77 | 77 |
There are only 20 teams in the country with an overall rating above 83, while the Cowboys and Cougars are two of nine teams with an overall rating of 83.
So, the folks at EA think the Cowboys are somewhere among the Top 30 teams in the country, a placing many OSU fans would likely take given the Cowboys have won no conference games in the past two seasons.
The game developers seem particularly intrigued with the OSU offense, and who wouldn’t be? The Cowboys added the play-caller (Eric Morris), quarterback (Drew Mestemaker) and running back (Caleb Hawkins) from last season’s nation-leading offense. There are only 16 offenses in the game rated higher than the Cowboys’.
Here are the Top 10 teams in the country, according to the game:
| Team | Overall | Offense | Defense |
| Oregon | 91 | 91 | 91 |
| Ohio State | 90 | 92 | 88 |
